Jalapeño Shrimp Poppers was orginally inspired for a seafood holiday appetizer menu, but we quickly realized why shelve these scrumptious little bites for only December, they can be a fan favorite all year long.

So if you’re looking for a game winning appetizer for the Super Bowl or any other sporting event, this will quickly move up the list to a fan favorite.   They’re a simple yet spicy and flavorful appetizer.  It’s sure to be a win any time of the year.

You’ll get a serving of minerals with the shrimp but you’ll also get warm savory bacon and ooey-gooey cheese.

 

The key to great shrimp is to cook it with the tails on, and once complete, remove and discard the tails.  The tails add an extra level of flavor when cooked.  Also, shrimp cooks quickly, so be sure to only cook your shrimp 2-3 minutes per side.  This will achieve a perfect dish.

Shrimp is incredibly versatile and can be seared, speared for a kabob, and boiled.  It packs a serious punch of vitamins and minerals including selenium, choline, and vitamin B12. It also contains good amounts of niacin, zinc, vitamin E, and vitamin B6. What’s more, shrimp contain antioxidants like astaxanthin, which reduces inflammation.

Ingredients

You will need (1) 6 ounce bags of Fish Fixe Shrimp

  • 3 Jalapeños, seeded, cut in half
  • 12 pieces of bacon, partially cooked (thin cut is best)
  • Sea salt
  • Fish Fixe Blackening Seasoning, old bay or salt and pepper 
  • Cheddar cheese, cut into 1.5” pieces (use cheese sticks or cream cheese)

Directions

  • Thaw and prep the Fish Fixe Shrimp according to package instructions
  • Pre-heat the oven to 400º 
  • Using the jalapeño as a boat, layer cheese, shrimp and wrap bacon around the entire popper 
  • Use a tooth pick to secure it 
  • Add all pieces to an oven pan and cook for 15 minutes
  • You’ll want to have a crispy outer layer to the shrimp and bacon 
  • If you want added crispyness, cook at 475º for 5-7 minutes
