Skinny Cajun Cream Shrimp Pasta

Ingredients

You will need (2) 6 oz. portions of Fish Fixe Shrimp

  • 1 c sliced andoiulle or smoked sausage
  • 1 1/2 c sliced (thick)white mushrooms
  • 18 oz diced canned tomatoes (drained)
  • 1 1/2 c diced onion
  • 1 c each diced green and red bell pepper
  • 1/4 c chopped garlic 
  • 1/4 c green onion
  • 1 tsp onion powder, garlic powder, italian seasoning, oregano
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1 lb pasta cooked in salted water (reserve 1 c. pasta water)

 

Cream Sauce combine:

  • 1 c milk
  • 1 c plain greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Tony’s Chacheres (set out to room temp)

Directions

  1. Prepare Fish Fixe shrimp by rinsing, removing tails and drying thoroughly
  2. In a heavy bottomed pan, sauté sausage until lightly browned then remove
  3. Add shrimp and cook until pink
  4. Remove shrimp and add 2-3 tbsp.= of olive oil and sautee onion, bell peppers, and garlic until fragrant
  5. Season with onion and garlic powder then stir in diced tomatoes
  6. Simmer for 10 minutes and then add mushrooms and continue to simmer
  7. As sauce thickens add reserved pasta water 1/2 cup at a time until sauce thins a bit
  8. Season with Italian seasoning, celery salt and oregano
  9. Taste and adjust spices as needed
  10. Stir in cream sauce (should be as close to room temperature as possible so it doesn’t separate) and sauté until well incorporated
  11. Taste seasonings again and adjust
  12. Add sausage and shrimp back to the pan and stir to incorporate the proteins into the sauce
  13. Add the desired amount of pasta stirring in a handful at a time until it reaches a nice ratio
  14. Finish with chopped green onions
